Two anecdotes:
#1 - When my father in-law was widowed at age 78, he became a hot commodity (an available single man with a pulse) in his Florida retirement community. The day of my mother in-law's funeral, he had a virtual parade of senior ladies bringing over covered food dishes. A couple of them were so forward as to offer to clean the dish out and take it back with them when they left IN THE MORNING. If you knew my father in-law, you'd know how ridiculous an image is presented by women throwing themselves at him! I honestly think he hadn't a clue what they were so blatantly suggesting.

#2 - My mother was recently scandalized to learn that her mother (my 87 year old widowed grandmother) was lighting up the sheets with her 90 year old boyfriend. To mom's indignant, "Mother!", grandma shot back, "Well - at least I don't have to worry about getting pregnant!"

Seniors are getting it on, folks. If that's not you now, it may well be you in a decade or two.

There are a lot of sensory nerve endings in the breast and especially the nipple. It makes sense that if having them sucked on during sex with your man is pleasurable, it may well also be pleasurable when they're being sucked on by a feeding infant. It's certainly not ALWAYS pleasurable (and sometimes it's downright painful), but the potential is certainly there.

From an evolutionary aspect, it would also make sense. The woman who finds it pleasurable to breastfeed has an extra incentive to keep that kid well fed!

kateconvissor

I actually AM a man. I read relationship sites and blogs like this to try to gain a better understanding of women and what makes them tick in order to improve my relationship with my wife. I'll be married for 22 years this August, and there are still many times I go completely nuts trying to figure her out. Changes she's going through in mid-life make it even more of a challenge.

The comments I make are usually in the interest of "Here's what we guys really DO think, and here's what we wish you understood about us". If you could eavesdrop on us in the locker room or on "Guys' night", this is what you'd hear us saying if the topic were to come up. It's what I'd like my wife to know.

One fault with special interest web sites is that they have a tendency to become very insular. This can be wonderfully supportive, but can completely miss the mark without participants even knowing it. Sometimes the direct approach is best - if you want to know how we feel about these things, ASK.
